Leadership
In some faiths only ordained clergy may lead the body of believers by preaching, teaching, or offering counsel to the body. In 1 Peter 2:9, Peter calls all Christians "a royal priesthood." Each believer is one who is called by God to serve. However, there are those who are gifted with leadership and are appointed to guide, teach and equip the body.
Elders
In Titus 1:5 Paul had instructed Titus to "...set in order what remains, and appoint elders in every city as I directed you." Each churches elders looked after the believers--teaching them, and seeing to their needs. Today the Glen Rock Church of Christ is still led by elders. They are chosen according to the criteria described in 1 Timothy 3:1-4&6.

Deacons
1 Timothy 3:8-13 also describes the role of deacons. A deacon's primary role is service to the needy (Matthew 25:44, Romans 15:25), caring for the physical and material needs of fellow Christians (Hebrews 6:10), and supporting preaching and teaching ministries.
